Meet Apollo

Beware… Apollo WILL steal your heart. Meet Apollo, the 2-year-old, 40 lb Shepherd mix with the most adorable ears and the sweetest personality that is impossible to resist. Now a Pittsburgh resident, Apollo was at an overcrowded West Virginia shelter before getting transported by PAWS.Apollo gets along well with other dogs. He has a foster brother, Alfie. They wrestle, lay in the yard and chomp on grass together! Apollo plays well independently, too. He will roll around on his back and throw his toys around he’s also content laying down and just looking out the window. Apollo loves naps on the couch, chasing tennis balls, but most importantly… whatever you’re doing. Vacuuming? He’s there. Cooking? He’s there. Going to another room for absolutely no reason? Apollo is following right behind. And if you sit down, you’ve activated sleepy dog mode. He will either curl up on a couch cuhion close by, or he will put his paws in your lap looking for pets. He’s potty trained, leash trained, knows “sit.” We are currently working on his recall and being settled! Smart, playful, and interested in the world around him, Apollo is ready to keep learning other basic commands alongside his forever family. Apollo hasn’t met kids or small animals (that we know of…) but with proper introductions, we believe he would do well. Apollo’s love language is definitely quality time. He will thrive in home where he can be around his human often and where he won’t be routinely crated for long periods. He has some separation anxiety and will need a patient, loving person willing to gently help him build confidence with being alone. He has a gentle demeanor and easygoing personality that will blend in with all kinds of lifestyles. He rides well in the car, too, so he could travel with you on all of your adventures!
