Meet Axle

Meet Axle – your loving and affectionate new best friend! This 1-year-old, 55-pound boy is sure to steal your heart and get plenty of second looks with his beautiful coat coloration and stunning light brown eyes. Axle enjoys spending time with his foster family and will chase his tennis ball until the cows come home. Ball is LIFE, and plushy toys don’t stand a chance! Axle prefers to stay active and enjoys playing fetch, going for walks, his peanut butter kong, and gnawing on his busy bones. If he had to pick a favorite hobby though, he’d pick snuggling in a heartbeat. This sweet boy doesn’t just want to snuggle you, he wants to mold his whole body up against you…or be held like a baby, whichever you will let him! Axle loves to be loved and will return it tenfold! With Axle’s athletic abilities and energy, he will require a 6-foot fence. Once he has had an opportunity to exercise, he happily goes to his crate on command and is content to sit quietly while he enjoys his peanut butter kong. Axle knows the commands sit, stay, leave it, come, crate, and is working on lay down. He is housebroken but still piddles himself from time-to-time when overly excited or nervous. Axle loves all people, including children, and will greet you with a big bear hug if he’s never had the pleasure of meeting you before…he’s actively working to learn it’s best to keep all four paws on the ground. While Axle does well with all people, he prefers slow, respectful introductions to fellow four-legged friends. Axle is a rough and tumble playmate and prefers friends that will reciprocate his wrestling or not be too upset with his persistent pawing. This boy loves to get rowdy with his best dog buds! Axle prefers playful, energetic, and more submissive dogs and is reactive to dogs that display dominant behaviors. Axle has not interacted with any cats while in his foster home so it is unknown how he’d do in a home with cats or other small animals.
