Meet Bear in GA - Snuggly & Easygoing

Meet Bear, a sweet and easygoing Pyr who is ready to bring lots of love to his forever family! He has the classic Great Pyrenees look, just with a shorter coat. Bear came to NGPR after his former owner, who had raised him since he was just eight weeks old, went through a divorce and lost her home. This handsome boy has good house manners and is fully housebroken, crate trained, and a pleasure to walk on leash. He listens well, comes when called, and has experience living with children. Bear has a medium activity level and is happy to enjoy both indoor comforts and outdoor sunshine. He would do well in a home with a four-foot fence, as he has no interest in making a great escape, and he could also thrive as a leash-walk-only dog. When it comes to other animals, Bear is a friendly fellow who gets along well with dogs of all sizes and seems comfortable around cats. He enjoys hanging out with other dogs and could happily share his home with other pets, or be someone's one-and-only companion. He doesn’t dig, and doesn’t bark. His favorite things include attention from his people, meeting new friends, tasty treats (especially dried salmon, cheese, and chicken!), and simply being close to the humans he loves. He may be found soaking up the sunshine in a cozy spot, but don't be surprised if he gets up to follow you wherever you're headed. At heart, Bear is a mellow, affectionate snuggle buddy who wants nothing more than to be part of someone's everyday life. Bear is flexible about his living arrangements and ready to settle in wherever love awaits. He would enjoy a fenced yard, or could be content as a leash-walk-only dog. If you're looking for a gentle, devoted companion who will happily trade adventures for cuddles and make every day a little sweeter, Bear could be your perfect match! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes.
