Meet Beetle

Meet Beetle! Beetle is a handsome, 2-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix weighing about 60 lbs, and he is truly one of a kind. He’s neutered, house trained, and an absolute love with people. Beetle is a big, lovable goofball who has a way of stealing everyone’s heart. He joins his foster family on walks to and from school and has become quite the local celebrity. Families, kids, and even crossing guards have fallen for him—and some people now bring him treats! He loves attention and happily shows off his “paw” and “down” skills for an audience. One person even dubbed him the “Prince of River Edge.” When he’s calm, Beetle is a total love bug. He is extremely people-oriented, loves being close to his humans, and enjoys soaking up affection. He can also be a hilarious character. Beetle is making progress with his leash skills. He has shown some reactivity toward other dogs while on walks, but his foster family is working hard with him, and they are seeing improvement. They are practicing “stop,” “sit,” and “look,” teaching Beetle to check in with his people for direction. He is now looking at his foster much more frequently on walks and has even started sitting and looking up for guidance without being asked. Because Beetle is a strong, 60-lb dog, a home with older children would be best. His adopters should be prepared to continue working with him on leash skills, basic training, and appropriate behavior around other dogs. He has lived with another dog previously, but they were not bonded. And while Beetle is very much a 60-lb bully-breed dog with a big personality, he doesn’t particularly enjoy getting wet—rain and sprinklers are definitely not his favorite things—and while he tolerates a bath, he wouldn’t exactly call it a spa day. Beetle is funny, affectionate, smart, and full of personality. He needs a family willing to give him structure, consistency, continued training, and plenty of love. In return, you’ll have a loyal companion who will keep you laughing and make friends wherever he goes. Beetle’s owner was no longer able to care for him, and he is now looking for the forever home where he can continue to grow, learn, and be the wonderful dog we know he can be.
