Meet BP Lightning

Forever home wanted, meet Lightning! Lightning and her four sisters; Dew, Cloud, Rain and Misty entered the shelter with their mother as owner surrenders by an unhoused person. We are unclear what the circumstances were that the owner came back to reclaim the mother and left the 5 six-week-old puppies in the shelter. Underage puppies cannot stay healthy in an overcrowded shelter, so when we heard about them, we reached out to get their status. The veterinary staff at the shelter would not spay them prior to 8 weeks of age so in the best interest of the puppies, they agreed to release them to rescue! Well, we wasted no time in trying to find fosters and we were in luck! Two families stepped forward and took the girls in. They entered the shelter on August 3rd, we were told they were approximately two weeks old when they arrived at the shelter. We pulled them from the shelter on September 7th and guess them to be about 7 weeks old at that time. All the puppies ar healthy and thriving in their foster homes.
