Big boy who has been described as a gentle giant and a lapdog! He is friendly with people at the shelter and open to meeting other laid back dogs. He’s the gentlest soul and reminds me of Ferdinand the Bull- a big, softhearted boy who just wants love. He moves a little slowly and is a bit shy, but he’s always up for snuggles. He was gentle in playgroup, just a little shy and still figuring out how to interact with the other dogs. Adoption fees are waived for all animals. In the last two weeks, 290 stray animals arrived at the shelter, including 122 dogs and 126 cats. 36 animals were reclaimed by their owners, 233 were adopted, and 20 went to rescue for a total of 289 animals leaving! We also wanted to share an important public safety announcement. Ventura County has seen an uptick in rabies positive bats with 28 positive bats so far this year. This is up from 22 bats in all of 2025 and only 6 in 2024. Vaccinating your pets against rabies is crucial for their safety and yours. VCAS is hosting a low cost Rabies Vaccine Clinic on October 7 from 4PM-7PM at 500 Eubanks St, Camarillo (near the shelter). No appointment necessary.
