Meet Cesar #1

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 72 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Cesar #1 | 9-month-old German Shepherd mix | Your playful, lovable goofball Cesar is a handsome 33-pound German Shepherd mix with a white chest and legs sprinkled with adorable red spots. He is a sweet, playful boy who may be a little shy and mild-mannered when he first meets you, but once he feels safe and comfortable, his full puppy personality comes shining through. Cesar loves running, playing, roughhousing with his dog friends, and spending time with his people. He is affectionate and loves to cuddle, especially in the evenings when he may curl up behind you on the couch and rest his head on you. Cesar is wonderful with other dogs and absolutely loves having a canine playmate. He can be a little oblivious to his size and may play a bit too enthusiastically with smaller dogs, so he would do best with another dog who enjoys an energetic play style. He has been positive with children age 10 and older but has not been around cats. Cesar is also a great walking buddy. He doesn't pull too much when walking alone, although he may get a little anxious and jump up for a hug when he sees another dog. One of his cutest habits is getting incredibly excited when he recognizes that he's almost home and trying to race back to the house after his walk! Cesar is still very much a puppy and has plenty to learn. He knows sit and down and is continuing to work on boundaries and appropriate puppy behavior. He can get vocal when he is bored and wants someone to play with, and he may chew on blankets or other things if he is left unattended without anything to do. He can also whine or bark when left alone. So far, he has only been left alone for short periods and with another dog in the home, so we don't yet know how he would do completely alone. A home where someone is around regularly or works from home would likely be a good fit. Cesar is a sensitive boy who responds best to patience, kindness, and positive reinforcement. Loud voices or feeling like he is in trouble can make him retreat, so his new family will need to help him learn with gentle guidance and plenty of encouragement. He is food, toy, and affection motivated, which should make training a fun experience. He would thrive in a joyful, active, loving home with room to play and grow and, ideally, a friendly, playful dog who can keep him company. He will need daily exercise, mental stimulation, continued training, and a family who understands that his puppy energy is very much still in residence. In return, you'll get an affectionate, silly, sensitive boy who is full of love and ready to become your new best friend. Cesar may have an occasional accident while adjusting to a new home and routine, but he is already getting very close to being fully house trained. Cesar came to us from a shelter in Texas. He can be a little skeptical about getting into the car at first, but once he's settled in, he's a great rider. He is ready for a family who will give him the patience, structure, affection, and playtime he needs to grow into the wonderful adult dog he's destined to be. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $450. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
