Meet Charlie

Charlie is a 9- to 10-month-old male Bahamian Potcake, likely with some catahoula leopard/ hound in the mix, and he is one of those dogs who quietly works his way into your heart. Charlie can be shy and a little skittish around new people, but once he decides you’re his person, that bond means everything to him. He may need a little patience and time to fully come out of his shell, but in the meantime he is gentle, quiet, affectionate and incredibly sweet. After starting life on the streets of the Bahamas, Charlie has decided that soft things are one of life’s greatest inventions. Pillows, couches, blankets, comfy dog beds — if it’s cozy, Charlie approves. He loves his toys, hanging with his dog friends, and has recently discovered that pool days are pretty fantastic too. He hasn’t committed to full-on swimming yet, but lounging on the sun shelf like he owns the place? Absolutely. Charlie is still a puppy, so he’ll need someone willing to continue his basic training. He isn’t completely potty trained yet, but he is smart, learns quickly, and is making great progress. His leash walking is also a work in progress. More than anything, Charlie needs a family who understands that the best relationships aren’t always instant. Sometimes the dog who hangs back at first becomes the one who loves you the hardest once he realizes he is finally safe. Charlie came to us with his best friend Arnie. While they do not have to be adopted together, we would LOVE to see these two boys continue their lives side by side. A generous supporter has even offered to cover Charlie’s adoption fee if they are adopted as a pair. If you have a little patience, a soft couch, and room in your life for a gentle soul who just needs someone to believe in him, Charlie may be your boy.
