Meet Chewie

Chewie is a mixed-breed dog. While he doesn't shed, we cannot guarantee he is allergy-friendly.** Chewie is the cutest ball of energy that you will ever meet! Chewie is estimated to be 4-5 months old, and he is a confident, happy, and energetic guy. His favorite activities include making new friends, wrestling with his doggie pals, or playing "you can't catch me". He is a ball of sunshine that brings the party wherever he goes. Chewie currently weighs about 5lbs and will be less than 20lbs when fully grown. Chewie came to us after he was hospitalized in near-death conditions. He was malnourished and anemic, but had a will to survive! He is now a healthy boy and has gained some much-needed weight. You would never guess that he was sick because he is such a carefree and exuberant puppy. Chewie is the epitome of a social butterfly. He loves everyone he meets and is quick to cover you in kisses. He is an on-the-go guy who can't wait to go on adventures with his new family. He needs an active family who can keep up with his busy body. Once all the fun has been had, he'll settle on the couch and enjoy lots of pets. He is still learning all of his basic manners, like how to walk on a leash, so he will need a family dedicated to continuing his training. Chewie absolutely loves other dogs, and we would love for him to be adopted by a family that has another playful dog for him to bond with. He has been raised with dogs of all ages and sizes, and does best with dogs who can keep up with his rowdy personality. Chewie has been raised in a foster home with kitties and is very gentle with the senior cat he lives with. Chewie could make a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years and older. Chewie has been doing great with his house-training using pee pads, and he has recently learned how to use a dog door. His new family will need to continue his training. Chewie is used to being kept in a playpen when not being supervised and sleeps through the night in a bathroom. He has done fine being left at home for short periods during the day. Chewie has curly fur that grows and needs to be professionally groomed regularly to maintain. His new family will need to be prepared to pay for this service. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
