Meet Chucky

CHUCKY is available! Chucky is a special dog needing a special home. He is a handsome, active, five-year-old Golden Retriever recently neutered on 6/26/26. Chucky is a playful dog that loves balls and fetch. He has never lived with other dogs or cats, and loves to be with people - but can be unpredictable and overly-protective if he feels threatened. He is very strong and not well leash-trained, but once he starts walking, he calms down. Chucky requires very dog-savvy, experienced adopters with NO children and NO pets and who are willing to work patiently with him. He is fine with meeting other dogs socially, but he can be pushy with a “short fuse" if other dogs invade his space. He has been placed on fluoxitene (doggie prozac) to see if that will help take the edge off his reactivity. Chucky has been evaluated by two behaviorists who both feel there is a lot of potential there for Chucky to become a better canine citizen with the proper handling and professional training. Chucky is currently enrolled in a Board and Train program and his trainers are very willing to work with an adopter after he has graduated. He is currently working on his Canine Good Citizen skills. We believe Chucky is worth the effort, because 99.9% of the time he is such a terrific dog.
