Meet Cindy

Update 8/30: This dog is on our Call to Action List after being involved in one or more bites to a person outside of the shelter. She is currently under quarantine, and we are following up with final confirmation of details. Dog may be available to a highly qualified adopter or rescue partner only. Update 9/9: Cindy is currently seeking placement with a qualified rescue. We may consider short-term foster for the purpose of evaluating her behavior outside the shelter to identify possible triggers safely (not to simply manage or negate behavior challenges). We may also consider adoption if a highly experienced adopter comes forward. During her recent adoption, this dog inflicted two bites and one additional attempted bite toward unfamiliar people, however, the circumstances and triggers remain poorly defined. At the shelter, Cindy is interactive with familiar people, accepts handling, takes treats gently, and responds to several cues. She is a strong dog who may become highly focused on vehicles or other animals and has shown mixed behavior around dogs. Her ideal placement will have the experience and secure environment needed to further assess her behavior and determine whether her responses can be safely and consistently managed. Update 9/21: Despite public outreach and efforts to identify a qualified rescue placement for further behavioral evaluation and placement support, no organizations have expressed interest in assisting Cindy. We have sent a final urgent plea.
