Meet Guthrie - couch buddy waiting for you

Guthrie is the sweetest little guy. He’s extremely laid back except for mealtimes and when he’s on squirrel patrol. We don’t know his history, only that when he arrived at a local pound he was in pretty rough shape. He was so badly matted that he had to be anesthetized to get shaved down. It’s obvious that he did not have the best life before that, but that’s all changed for him now. Our little Guthrie struggled with being in a cage while his foster mom was away. He finally grew to tolerate it, but would be stressful for him. So she decided to stop crating him and see how he did. He is doing much better, but he may appreciate a canine sibling or two so he knows he’s not completely alone when his humans aren’t at home. He also wears a belly band when he’s left unattended during the day, as he may mark occasionally. We don’t know if it’s an stress-response, a territory thing, ot just a bad habit he developed before he came into our care. It’s just hard to know for sure. Guthrie is a really good boy and really, really deserves a better life than he’s undoubtedly had in the past. He’s smart. When he understands what you want him to do, he will try his best to do it. He’s very food-motivated, which is a huge plus for training! And if you haven’t already noticed, he’s also very cute! Want a cuddle buddy when you’re on the couch watching TV? Guthrie’s your guy! It’s his favorite pastime. He’s very good-natured and easy-going. Except for maybe when it comes to the critter-type trespassers. Guthrie would love a chance to be your boy!
