Meet Danny
Danny is a senior boy estimated to be 12 years old, mostly black without a tail and weighs 65 lbs. He came from a local shelter with no history of his past. It's apparent he led a hard life, as he was missing much of his fur from an apparent flea allergy, had an eye infection and bad ear infections. He’s received several baths and the vet packed his ears (while he was sedated) and sent medicine for his eyes and he’s already showing improvement. Because his ears are packed, he doesn’t hear well and may have some age related hearing loss too. Regardless of what he can hear, he needed to be medicated when a large thunderstorm rolled through the area. Many dogs are ultra sensitive to lightening and/or fireworks. After 3 months of TLC, Danny's hair has returned and he's put on weight. He still has ear infections, but his eyes have cleared up. Initially, Danny hated being crated, but now he is willing to go into a crate. Danny is sharing the foster home with a senior alumni girl (Grandma Belle) and does great with her. He doesn’t do well alone, so having another dog in the home with him is key. Danny has also shown that he is housebroken. He spends a great deal of the day chewing on bones or cow hooves. Danny has met several other dogs (mostly German Shepherds) of all ages and he ignored them all. He also lives with a cat. And for the most part, ignores the cat. Danny needs leash training as he pulls hard, but doesn’t require a lot of exercise. He’s a little unsteady of his feet. This boy is food motivated, which helps in teaching him new tricks or commands. He does love to be towel dried after baths and coming in from the rain. He loves meeting new humans and really loves teens. Small critters unknown. Level 2
