Meet CHARLIE

Charlie came in as a stray on 3/27 and, although microchipped, his previous owner was unable to reclaim him. He was reported to be housebroken and crate trained, previously living with other dogs, and is described as a sweet, cuddly boy who loves attention and even enjoys vegetables as treats. In the shelter environment, Charlie has shown a calm, easygoing side—he walks well on leash with only a slight pull, is treat-motivated, knows “sit,” and enjoys staying close to his handler for pets and reassurance. In more structured dog interactions, Charlie has shown some selectivity with other dogs, particularly males, and will need careful introductions and management in any future canine pairings. In playgroup, he was forward and stiff in greetings and required intervention during an altercation with a male dog, so a more controlled approach to dog interactions is recommended. Outside of that context, staff and volunteers consistently describe him as friendly, gentle, and very sweet—easy to handle, non-reactive to kenneled dogs, and more focused on people than anything else. Charlie will thrive in a home that appreciates his affectionate, low-key personality while providing guidance and structure around dog introductions.
