Meet Heff (in foster)

Heff is a 9 lb, 6-year-old Maltese who recently retired from a commercial breeding kennel. For most of his life, his only job was making puppies, so he’s still learning what it means to simply be a loved family dog. Heff is a very sweet little guy, but he’s understandably shy and unsure in new situations due to limited socialization. He enjoys being gently picked up and petted, though he may be nervous at first. While he doesn’t seek out attention yet, it’s clear he wants to trust and is making progress every day. Heff will need a patient adopter who understands that love, time, and consistency will help him continue to blossom. He thrives around other dogs and must have a confident canine companion in his new home to help him learn the routines of family life and build his confidence. A quiet home without young children would be the best fit for Heff.
