Meet Cowboy
This Dog is on our Call to Action List following a bite incident involving body handling when returning to the kennel. While he likely will not be a cuddlebug, he may be happy as an independent companion. While he loves to play with toys, Cowboy has also shown signs of guarding high value items from people, including children. He has been muzzled in playgroup for stiff greetings, reactivity at the fence, and chasing other dogs. While it's possible he may one day be open to meeting other dogs outside of the shelter environment, he has not displayed dog social behavior during his time with us. Due to Cowboy's history and a pattern of resource guarding, dog reactivity and selective sociability, and willigness to push past handlers or dart through thresholds like doorways to escape, low sociability or low tolerance for handling/touch, he is looking for a home without children or regularly visiting children. Cowboy is currently available for adoption, a short term foster for evaluation, or transfer to a rescue partner. If no placement is found, humane euthanasia may be considered.
