DIXIE NEEDS A SOFT PLACE TO LAND… AND A HEART THAT WON’T GIVE UP ON HER. Meet Dixie, a 4-year-old Great Dane/Mastiff mix who is trying to find her way after life turned upside down through absolutely no fault of her own. Dixie once had a family and a home. But after a move brought stress and unexpected tension between her and the other dog in the household, this beautiful girl found herself surrendered to the shelter. Through it all, she has been left carrying more than any dog should have to bear. And if you look closely, you can see some of what she has been through. Dixie has a few scars from the fights that occurred with her former furry housemate. She has also arrived underweight, and while there is nothing medically wrong causing her weight loss, she needs nourishment, care, and plenty of TLC to help her get back to the beautiful, healthy girl she deserves to be. We are committed to helping her along that journey while she waits for her next chapter. But what Dixie needs most isn't just food or a comfortable bed. She needs someone who will make her feel SAFE again. ❤️She needs a person who understands that sometimes a dog doesn't just need a new home… she needs time to heal from the old one. Someone who will reassure her, give her patience, shower her with kindness, and show her that life can be gentle again. Dixie deserves a home where she can finally exhale. A place where she doesn't have to navigate the stress and uncertainty she has already experienced. A place where she can simply be loved, grow stronger, put on healthy weight, and spend her days knowing she belongs. Because at just 4 years old, her story is far from over. We believe there is so much happiness left for this girl to experience. She deserves the chance to discover that her next chapter can be the very best one yet. ❤️Dixie will need a carefully chosen home where she can feel secure, with thoughtful management around other animals given what happened in her previous household.
