Meet Falcon - Located in South Carolina

Well, it’s finally time to officially introduce Falcon! Falcon is an approximately 7-month-old Malinois/GSD mix and one of two boys who came into the shelter with their mom. Despite where his life started, Falcon is exactly what a young Malinois should be: social, playful, curious, people-focused and ready to learn everything. And now that he's in his foster home, we're starting to learn a little more about him. Apparently Falcon may have read at least SOME of the puppy handbook. He seems to have had some potty training already. He goes to the door when he needs out and has even picked his preferred potty spot in the yard. He had just one accident when he first arrived, which his foster suspects was simply from all the excitement and overstimulation. He was also a pretty fantastic passenger on his freedom ride. His foster rode in the back with him and Falcon slept off and on almost the entire way. The only time he whined? He needed to potty. They stopped. He peed. Everybody got back in the car.10/10 communication skills, sir. His first night was a little harder. Everything is new, and his foster is still figuring out what makes him comfortable; whether it's the darkness, the quiet or simply adjusting to an entirely different world. They're taking their time and using positive reinforcement to help him learn that his crate is a safe place. During the day, though, he's apparently discovered his favorite position: Flopped down and relaxing. Falcon enjoys food and toys, likes interacting with people and other dogs, and has plenty of that young Malinois enthusiasm. He's still learning that jumping and putting teeth on things isn't always the preferred method of communication, but he redirects well, wants to engage and is at a great age to soak up training and structure. At only seven months old, this handsome young guy has his entire life ahead of him. His world just got a whole lot bigger, and right now he's figuring it out one new experience at a time. One car ride. One potty spot. One good night's sleep. One lesson that he's safe. Falcon is officially MAD. And we already LOVE him. Welcome to MAD, Falcon! Falcon is very social and food motivated but has a slightly more thoughtful approach to new experiences. With guidance and structure, he's going to make an incredible companion. For greater distances, MAD does offer transport assistance for up to 350 miles for the adopter, however transport is primarily on the responsibility of the adopter.
