GUS NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Gus and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (9/6) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22305)! Name: Gus Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 9 months as of August 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 44 lbs as of 8/16/26 - he may still have a little bit left to grow! Gets Along With: Other dogs! We have tested Gus with some of the cats at the shelter, and he did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that Gus could live with a cat, he has not done so to our knowledge. If you have cats in your home, we are happy to discuss with you how to best introduce a new pup to your pack! This young boy is eagerly looking forward to having his own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. And dog school so he can show how super smart he is. And then pets and cuddles and belly scritches at the end of a fun day together. And he'll want quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved. In exchange he promises all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's storing up, and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Is Gus the one you see by your side? What Volunteers Say About Me: Gus is a sweet and gentle older puppy. At boarding he is friendly with other dogs and people and we have seen this at events as well. He rides well in the car and likes getting pets. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
