Meet Gypsy
Gypsy and her sister Stormi were dumped in a hay field with their mom and had no food, water or shelter. We estimate her birth date to be early April 2026 and think she is a mix of Shepherd, lab, boxer and maybe cattle dog with an estimated adult weight of 45 to 47 lbs. She is mostly house trained and uses a doggy door when she needs to go potty. She has a sweet/silly personality, loves and is kissy on people, cats, and other dogs. When not playing, her calm side comes alive. She likes to watch TV or lay upside down on the couch nearby when you on a computer or reading or with her dog friends and cats. She especially likes to watch you cook (she is very food oriented). She is attentive to her family, bonds easily and is making great progress on her leash and obedience training learning all the commands a puppy needs to know. She does great in a car but has gotten car sick on rare occasions. She loves to play with toys, collect them in her bed and chew on chewies (lots of them). She especially likes her squeaky toys, sucks on her favorite, will carry them around gently and then decide it's time to shred them so you will need to keep few spares available for a while. Gypsy will need an active family and/or doggy playmate. She's also looking for a loving home with a yard big enough that she can run and play and that is secured with a 6ft wooden fence which is not near a busy street. The good news is that with the right training and LOTS of love, she will be the best addition to your family ever and your best bud, ready to go when you are. If you are interested in her, please send an email with a completed application to SCP. Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review and to set up a meet and greet! Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $210 (or $270 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog prior to filling out an application, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some other great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday!
