Meet Hayden in GA - Affectionate & Eager To Learn

Meet Hayden, a handsome Pyr with a heart as big as his paws! Hayden was found as a stray in Georgia and taken to an animal shelter before NGPR brought him into rescue. Since arriving in his foster home, he has shown himself to be an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy who loves attention of any kind. He is truly a love bug and a very good boy! Hayden is leash-trained and highly receptive to training, quickly picking up new things. He is currently working on “sit,” “leave it,” “bed,” and “come,” and is eager to learn. He has a moderate activity level and would be a wonderful companion for an active family. Hayden gets along beautifully with other dogs, including his foster’s Great Pyrenees and Chihuahua, and would love a home with a canine companion or two. He has also been exposed to both indoor and outdoor cats. He is very curious about them and simply wants to play, so he would do best with cats who are comfortable around dogs and tolerant of his playful interest. Hayden has been wonderful with everyone he has met and absolutely loves people and their attention. He hasn’t been exposed to children yet, but given his sweet and gentle nature, he is expected to do well with older kids. Hayden does bark occasionally, usually when separated from his people, but he responds well when asked to stop while indoors. He enjoys a balance of indoor and outdoor time, but what he loves most is being with his people. At night, he settles quietly on his dog bed on the floor and sleeps peacefully through the night. Hayden’s favorite treat is peanut butter, which is sure to win you a few extra tail wags! This beautiful boy truly is the epitome of sweetness, and his affectionate personality makes him a joy to have around. Hayden’s ideal home would be with an active, loving family, another dog or two to share life with, and a 5-foot securely fenced yard. If you’re looking for a loving companion who enjoys being close to his people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is ready to keep learning and growing with his forever family, Hayden could be your PYR-fect match! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes.
