Meet Jack! Jack is a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with a sweet personality and so much love to give! This handsome boy absolutely loves people, enjoys attention, and has never met a stranger. He does great with other dogs, and we think he would do well with kids, too! He loves playing fetch and tug-of-war and is always ready for some fun. Jack has already overcome quite a bit in his short life. When he first came to us, he was heartworm positive. He successfully completed treatment and is now heartworm-free! Shortly afterward, we discovered that Jack is diabetic and requires insulin twice a day. Thankfully, giving Jack his insulin is very easy, and he handles it like a champ! His future family will just need to understand how important it is to keep him on a consistent schedule with his insulin and meals. Because of his diabetes, Jack will occasionally have an accident in his kennel, but overall, he does very well. Jack is your typical Australian Shepherd: smart, active, and always ready to see what's going on! He loves to play and would enjoy a family who can give him plenty of attention and activity. He can also be a runner if given the opportunity, so a secure 6-foot fence is a must for his forever home. We are waiving Jack's adoption fee for an exceptional adopter! We hope this will give his new family a head start by allowing them to put the money they would have spent on his adoption fee toward his insulin and ongoing medical care. Jack doesn't need someone to feel sorry for him. He just needs someone willing to give him the little bit of extra care he requires. In return, you'll get one incredibly sweet boy who loves attention, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and will be so happy to finally have a family of his own. We know there is a special family out there for Jack, and we can't wait for him to find them! Medical Notes Neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. Successfully completed heartworm treatment and received a ProHeart 12 injection. Requires insulin injections twice daily to manage his diabetes. Vetsulin costs approximately $79.99 per vial through Chewy, with each vial lasting approximately 4–6 weeks at his current dosage. Will need a repeat glucose curve in December 2026 to monitor his diabetes and determine whether any adjustments to his insulin are needed.
