Meet Jack

MEET JACK! This beautiful healthy 4-year-old boy is described as playful, friendly, curious and gentle. He has seen some things in his past that also leave him a bit anxious and timid as well. Jack has settled into his foster home well and continues to grow more trusting with passing time. He has no beef with the other dogs in his foster home but isn't particularly interested in playing together with them and tends to go out of his way to avoid them. Jack can be independent; we figure this stems from his history of being an only dog. Jack is very loving and loyal to his person. He loves to go on walks and is quite quick and active. His leash manners are improving and his adopter should anticipate continuing to reinforce good loose leash walking (bring treats!) Jack is friendly and likes meeting new people; we are working on having him not jump up when he enthusiastically greets them. Guess what? Jack loves food. Can you believe it?! He even does a spinning dance for his meals. He will sit for a treat and is very gentle when taking his reward. House training is a work in progress, but he is making strides. Jack gets pretty anxious on car rides. We are hoping that he will learn that car rides can lead to fun adventures over time, but right now he gets jumpy. We were told by his surrendering owner that Jack says "I love you". You better believe we will get video and share the heck out of it when he says it for his foster mom! His barking voice is active but not excessive. He will let you know when someone is passing by and if someone is at the door. We were also told that Jack has lived with cats in the past and likes to give chase to engage in play. We have not been able to test him with cats in his foster home. We will be seeking placement for Jack in a loving home where his need for safety and security will be met. An active, stimulating environment to engage his energetic personality and a home with the patience to understand what he has to offer and will embrace him wholeheartedly, taking him the rest of the way to the amazing life he deserves. Do you think you are the one to provide a loving home to Jack? Please see the requirements for adoption below and complete an application to be considered. ADOPTION FEE $600.00 based on age From his foster mom: Jack could be a single dog or live with a laidback companion. Active household who can keep him engaged would take him for walks, play with him (he is jumpy and will "box" with you) and give him lots of positive reinforcement and treats. He is very smart! He doesn't like to be away from his people. He has never been crated, so I haven't tried it here. He didn't want to go in a crate. He loves to nap on soft things - rugs, pillows, blankets, etc. He also likes to sit on the back of the couch and look out the window. His tail is ALWAYS curled, because he is a super happy boy. When we go on walks, he loves to stop and sniff things and pee on them. REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTING JACK Can be an only dog or join a welcoming grumble Dog friendly cats who don't mind a curious dog considered Active structured household for stability and stimulation Daily walks, non-negotiable Fenced yard preferred but not mandated Patience with continued consistent potty training Dog savvy children aged 10 and older Commitment to meeting all future ongoing medical needs including annual well visits and flea tick and heartworm prevention Please note all current dogs must have proof of heartworm preventatives
