Meet Jada

7/7 update: Back in April, a very kind bus driver spotted Jada near a stop along her route. She had seen Jada in the area before, and wanted to make sure she was safe. Finally, she was able to lure Jada into a crate with food and bring her to the shelter! At first, Jada was extremely nervous and defensive around us. She wouldn't even let us put her a leash on her to go for walks. It seemed like Jada was very undersocialized... not to mention how loud, overwhelming, and scary the shelter is. Thanks to the hard work of Jada's team of volunteer handlers over the last few months, she has really blossomed! While she still takes patience getting to know new people, she's shown herself to be curious and affectionate. She'll walk nicely on leash to explore the park, lean into pets from her usual volunteers, and will now slowly approach new people on her own for a sniff and some treats! Jada has even been in playgroup with other dogs... though she's a bit too stressed here at the shelter to play just yet. We are SO proud of Jada's progress. This once terrified little bus stop pup is ready to bloom with a rescue group, or adopter/foster experienced with fearful dogs. She may be open to a home with other dogs, but would appreciate some time on her own in a quiet environment to decompress from the craziness of the shelter. She has been too scared to walk on a leash, and seems significantly undersocialized. We are continuing to get to know her, but we think she might do best in a qualified rescue placement where she can build her confidence and learn skills that are essential to living in a home.
