Meet Lacey
Lacey is a female dog who presented bright, alert, and responsive (BAR) with a severely injured and painful eye requiring emergency enucleation (surgical removal of the eye). Without prompt surgical intervention, she is at risk for ongoing pain, worsening inflammation, and additional complications. Emergency enucleation is recommended to relieve her discomfort and improve her quality of life. This level of specialized surgical care and postoperative recovery support exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite her condition, Lacey remains resilient and is doing her best while receiving supportive care. Lacey needs a safe, compassionate placement where she can receive immediate surgical evaluation, emergency enucleation, and appropriate recovery care to restore her comfort. Lacey is at risk for euthanasia due to medical concerns beyond our scope of care. If you are interested in adopting, fostering, or rescuing Lacey, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov. When emailing, please include a callback number.
