Meet Lilypad

Dear Future Family, Hi! My name is Lilypad, and before you scroll past me because I’m the littlest puppy, I really hope you’ll take a minute to read my story. You see, I wasn’t even sure I was going to get the chance to write this letter. I came into this world as the runt of my litter. I was the tiniest, the most fragile, and I had a much harder start than most puppies should ever have. Some of my brothers and sisters didn’t make it. I don’t really understand why they didn’t get to grow up with me, but I know how lucky I am to still be here. My foster family and the veterinarians fought so hard for me. They watched over me, cared for me, and did everything they could to help my tiny little body get stronger. And I fought, too. I might have been the smallest, but I wasn’t ready to give up. And guess what? I MADE IT! Now I’m 14 weeks old, weighing 11 pounds at my last weigh-in, and I have a whole lot of living to do! I’m not that fragile little baby anymore. I’m a happy, playful, social puppy who LOVES other dogs, LOVES kids, and wants to be included in everything. I have a big personality packed into this little body, and I promise I can keep up with the bigger puppies! But there’s something I’m a little worried about. I’m still the smallest. And sometimes people see the tiniest puppy and worry that something must be wrong with her. Or that she’ll always need extra care. Or that maybe they should pick one of the bigger, stronger puppies instead. Please don’t overlook me because of how my story started. My beginning was hard, but it doesn’t have to define the rest of my life. I didn’t fight this hard just to be remembered as the runt. I fought because I had a whole life ahead of me. A life filled with toys, belly rubs, playing in the yard, sleeping on a comfy bed, and having a family who loves me. And I’ve already had people fight for me when I couldn’t fight for myself. Now I just need someone to choose me. I don’t need you to feel sorry for me. I don’t need you to see me as the tiny puppy who almost didn’t make it. I want you to see me as the little girl who DID. And maybe, just maybe, all that fighting was because I was meant to find you. Love, Lilypad The littlest fighter with the biggest dreams. A Little More About Me!
