Meet Linden

10/07/26 11:46Linden has been placed on FINAL as of 10/7/26.He must be pulled by 5:00 PM on 10/14/26, or he will be humanely euthanized. Linden has consistently demonstrated high Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (FAS) while housed in the shelter. In his kennel, Linden has been observed pacing and displaying high arousal. While still in his kennel, Linden engaged in fence-fighting behavior with neighboring dogs and was observed body-slamming the kennel door. Outside of the kennel, Linden has demonstrated positive handling behaviors. During interactions with staff, Linden allowed full-body handling and accepted petting. Linden has demonstrated concerning behavior during interactions with other dogs. When introduced to another dog, Linden growled and barked at the helper dog. During a dog-to-dog (D2D) interaction, Linden was observed snapping at the helper dog. Given these behaviors, his interactions with other dogs should be carefully considered and managed by experienced handlers using appropriate safety, supervision, and management protocols. Linden's high FAS, kennel pacing, fence-fighting, and body-slamming behavior suggest that the shelter environment is significantly impacting his emotional well-being. His concerning behavior around other dogs, including growling, barking, and snapping during introductions, further indicates that placement should be with an experienced rescue organization that can provide a lower-stress environment, appropriate decompression time, individualized behavioral support, and appropriate safety and management protocols. Linden is available for rescue or adoption with a waiver. A rescue partner must commit to and pull Linden by 5:00 PM on 10/14/26, or he will be humanely euthanized. EXTENSION REQUEST PROCESS A Rescue Group (RG) may request an extension of an animal's Needs Rescue Final Date no later than 5:00 PM on the noted final date by emailing SJRescue@sanjoseca.gov, with a cc to a Division Manager or Shelter Operations Supervisor.09/08/26 11:15Linden is starting to decline in the kennel and experiencing high FAS.
