Name: Luigo Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/heeler mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of August 2026 SEX: Male Estimated Weight: 45 lbs as of August 2026 Gets Along With: Luigo gets along well with other dogs. He would do best in a home without cats or kids under the age of 12. Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Special Adoption Considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. Because Luigo is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog to show him the ropes. Luigo is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Luigo! I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. But most of all I want to know I'm safe and loved, where I belong. What My Foster Says About Me: Luigo (Wee-Gee, is what we call him) is a sweetie who is full of energy and affection. He likes his crate and improving every day on the leash. He knows sit, stay and stop, and is making progress on “leave it/drop it.” He loves the dog park and gets along great with his fellow pups. He just wants to play and run. Wee-Gee has done great making new friends -- but he’s shy at first. Once he gets to know you – which won’t take long – he’s a snuggler, curling up on your lap or with a dog buddy at night. If you’re a runner, you’ll have an eager companion. Finally, Wee-Gee’s facial expressions and posture give off a royalty vibe that are hilarious and adorable. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, vaccinations, transport from the shelter, and his neuter.
