Meet Luna
Meet Luna — A Big, Beautiful Malamute With an Even Bigger Heart Every so often, a dog comes along who feels like pure sunshine wrapped in fur. Luna is one of those dogs. At 5 years old and 124 pounds, she’s a gorgeous, confident Alaskan Malamute with a heart as oversized as her fluffy frame. She’s looking for a new home through absolutely no fault of her own. Her owner’s declining health means Luna needs a family who can give her the care, attention, and love she deserves. A Sweetheart Through and Through Luna is the definition of a gentle giant. She adores being around her people and thrives on affection. Whether it’s leaning in for pets, following her humans from room to room, or simply lounging nearby, she’s happiest when she’s part of the family’s daily rhythm. She currently lives in Milwaukie Oregon with dogs, cats, and children—and she gets along beautifully with everyone. Inside her home, she’s calm, friendly, and easygoing. She hasn’t had much experience meeting dogs outside her familiar circle, but her family believes she’ll warm up quickly with slow, positive introductions. Confident, a Little Bossy, and Completely Charming During her evaluation, Luna showed off her personality in the best way. She greeted her evaluator with a few friendly “Malamute words,” then settled quickly and confidently. She enjoyed pets, ran a few joyful zoomies, and then relaxed like she owned the place. She’s a confident girl with a touch of bossiness—but in that sweet, endearing Malamute way that makes you laugh more than anything else. Ready to Learn, Explore, and Grow Because Luna hasn’t had much exposure to the outside world, she’ll need a patient adopter who can help her learn leash skills, build confidence, and discover new adventures. She’s smart, eager to please, and bonded to her people—wonderful traits for a dog who’s ready to expand her horizons. She does experience some separation anxiety and has always been allowed to free‑roam in the home. She’s fully house trained and settles well when her people are around. Health Notes & Care Needs Luna has seasonal allergies that can cause hot spots from licking. She currently receives a monthly allergy injection that helps keep things under control. She’s also overweight and will need a family committed to helping her shed some pounds through healthy food choices and gentle exercise. Who Luna Is Looking For Luna’s ideal family will be: Patient and encouraging, ready to help her learn leash manners and explore the world Affectionate and present, as she thrives on companionship Committed to her health, including weight loss and allergy management Looking for a calm, confident dog who doesn’t require the typical high‑energy Malamute lifestyle She would do best in a home without very young children simply due to her size, but she’s been wonderful with kids in her current home. A Once‑in‑a‑Lifetime Companion Luna is a stunning, sweet, soulful girl who has so much love to give. She’s the kind of dog who makes a house feel like a home—steady, affectionate, and full of personality. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will adore being part of your world, Luna may be the perfect match. This big beautiful girl is ready for her next chapter. She’s ready for a family who will cherish her, guide her, and help her shine. Important - Please note. This dog is being listed by WAMAL but is residing with its owner.
