Meet Maggie

Meet Maggie! Maggie came to us with three of her canine friends after they were seized from a neglect situation by local animal control. The condition they arrived in was heartbreaking. Maggie was suffering from a severe flea infestation, hair loss, overgrown nails, and poor nutrition. While she has come a long way since then, she is still carrying a significant amount of excess weight and is currently at an unhealthy obese weight which will need to be worked on. Maggie is currently in a foster home, where her foster mom has given all details on Maggie's perfect ideal home. Maggie isn’t a cuddly lap dog right now, and she may never want to be one. She prefers affection on her own terms, and when something frightens her, her instinct is to hide rather than confront it. And that’s okay. Maggie deserves a home where she can be exactly who she is. She does wonderfully with other dogs and is also good with cats. She would be happiest in an adult-only home without children, preferably with someone who appreciates a quiet, predictable environment. Loud noises and lots of change can be difficult for her, so a calm home where she can settle in at her own pace would be ideal. Maggie is potty-pad trained and perfectly content with life’s quieter pleasures. Give her her little pink couch and a warm sunbeam for an afternoon nap, and you’ll have one very happy little Chihuahua. Maggie doesn’t need someone to change her. She needs someone willing to show her, patiently and consistently, that she is finally safe. She may take time to trust, but for the right person, earning that trust will be incredibly rewarding. Maggie is currently in Texas but can travel to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, Kentucky, and along the East Coast. If transportation is needed, there is an additional $250 transport fee. Unfortunately, due to state regulations, she cannot travel to Rhode Island or Massachusetts.
