Meet Mandarin

MANDARIN IS URGENT! Entry: Stray *Sponsored for $50 for adoption fee. 🧡Meet Mandarin🧡 Mandarin is a beautiful 3-year-old, 48 Ib heart worm negative lab/pit bull mix who has already overcome more than any dog should. She arrived as a stray in April after being found in someone's yard with an embedded collar and painful skin wounds. Thanks to the care of the shelter staff, she has healed and is now ready to leave her past behind and find the family she's always deserved. Mandarin has been enjoying time in the play yard, playing fetch with volunteers and meeting other dogs. Once she had some space to stretch her legs, she broke into joyful zoomies and happily invited Leo to play. It was wonderful to see her confidence shine. Because of the trauma from her embedded collar, Mandarin is still a little sensitive around her neck. She may flinch if someone reaches toward that area, but with gentle handling and patience, she's continuing to build trust every day. She also showed everyone what a well mannered dog she is during playgroups. She was a little unsure of the other dogs at first, but once she realized they meant her no harm, she relaxed and had fun. When an enthusiastic young pup named Dana bounced over a little too excitedly, Mandarin gave a calm, appropriate grumble to ask for more space. Dana listened, adjusted her play style, and the two got along just fine. Mandarin communicates beautifully with other dogs and appreciates polite introductions. Now all Mandarin needs is a home where she can finally feel safe, loved, and cherished. After everything she's been through, it's her turn to know what kindness feels like every day.
