Meet Maple! 5 months old | 32 lbs | Likely Dutch Shepherd mix Maple has been in foster care since September 8, and her transformation has been beautiful to watch! Found as a stray in an area known for dog breeding, Maple arrived frightened and unsure of the world. She spent nearly two weeks decompressing and learning that she was safe. With patience, gentle care, and the freedom to build confidence at her own pace, this sweet girl is finally beginning to blossom! A Quick Snapshot of Maple * Personality: Smart, curious, playful, and full of emerging puppy personality! * Favorite things: Chew toys, exploring, playing, napping, belly rubs * Signature move: Her adorable army crawl and very expressive ears…. Her ears sometimes sticks straight up and sometimes are very relaxed. Dog-friendly: Enjoys playing with her Border Collie and Chihuahua foster siblings and is respectful of her elderly Pomeranian foster sister. * Home habits: vocally Quiet in her foster home and has shown no signs of aggression. When she’s ready to play, she is active and busy but also enjoys quiet time.  * Safe spaces: Comfortable using a crate and large exercise pen. * Potty training: Understands potty pads and is making progress toward going outside. * Building confidence: May submissively tinkle when frightened, especially if approached from above. Gentle handling and patience help her feel secure. What Maple Needs Maple needs a loving family who understands that trust takes time. She is still learning about the world, puppy manners, and potty training, so she’ll benefit from consistency, positive reinforcement, and a patient approach. Her foster mom has spent a great deal of time learning Maple’s body language, comfort level, and unique little habits and will gladly help her future family make the transition successful. Maple has already made incredible progress in just one month! Her intelligence is shining through, her playful personality is emerging, and there is so much more to discover about this special girl.
