Meet Memphis — a short, stocky, heavily wrinkled unit who has apparently decided that surviving death row means he is now entitled to everything. And honestly? We can't blame him. Memphis was literally seconds away from being euthanized when someone stepped in and saved his life. Now he's discovering this crazy new thing called being a house dog, and he's got some thoughts about it. He does have a softer side, too. Memphis is afraid of loud noises, yelling, and big dogs barking at him. After everything he's been through, he needs someone who will be patient and gentle while he learns that nobody is going to hurt him anymore. We don't believe Memphis had ever really lived inside before being rescued. His ears were absolutely eaten up by flies, showing just how badly neglected he had been. Now he's learning about couches, dog doors, house rules, and the very complicated concept of house training. He's still working on that last one, but he's doing really well with a dog door and is trying. He also occasionally grabs something he's not supposed to chew. His defense? “I didn't know.” His second defense? “I'm a bulldog.” His third defense? Look at his face. Memphis has already completed his heartworm treatment and is scheduled for his neuter and cherry eye repair. Once he's recovered, he'll be ready to find his forever home. And after coming within seconds of losing his life, Memphis deserves nothing less than a family who will give him the rest of his life to be spoiled rotten. ❤️ He doesn't need someone looking for a perfectly trained dog.
