Meet Midas

This fun boy is a little working-class dog at heart and would love nothing more than to have a person who is ready to put his body and his brain to work! Midas is a young, active guy who thrives with physical and mental stimulation. Whether he is exploring the great outdoors, learning something new, or simply tagging along by your side, Midas is happiest when he has something to do and someone to do it with. Midas is very friendly, though he can be a little shy when meeting new people. His first instinct may be to let out a few barks, but give him a little time and he is often quick to warm up. He loves building connections with his people and responds wonderfully to redirection. Once he is comfortable, his happy personality really starts to shine! When it is time to settle down, Midas is more than capable of entertaining himself. He enjoys toys and enrichment in his kennel and doesn’t come across as an overly anxious dog. Like any dog entering a new home, he will need time to decompress and adjust, but we think he is going to be a pretty fun adventure buddy once he settles in. Midas has been friendly with other dogs and has a happy demeanor when he sees them. We think he may really enjoy having a canine friend, especially one who can keep up with his playful energy! Because Midas can be a little bouncy when he is excited, he may be a bit much for some small children. As always, we are happy to help with introductions to potential canine friends. One of our favorite things about Midas is how quick to learn and eager to please he is. He knows the cue sit (which is something we taught him right here in the shelter!) and has shown us that he is ready to put that clever brain to work! We can easily see him thriving with continued training, patience and gentle guidance from his future family. He generally walks well on a leash once he gets some of his initial excitement out, though shelter life has brought out a little leash tugging that we expect will improve as he settles into a routine. Midas is the kind of dog who is ready to go places, learn things, explore everything and have a person of his very own. He has so much potential, and we can’t wait to see what he becomes when given the time, guidance and love he deserves.
