Meet Millie

WATCH MY VIDEO...Our sweetest little girl Millie is getting much needed TLC from our amazing volunteers. Just one-year-old and only 27 pounds, Millie is still trying to figure out this scary shelter world at the Humane Society of Broward County. When I walked up to her kennel today, I couldn’t even find her. She had tucked herself completely underneath her kennel bed, trying to disappear. When I gently lifted the bed, she immediately ran to the other side of her kennel. She was scared. But then something incredible happened. After just a moment, she slowly walked back toward me… looking for love. I grabbed her a soft bed, a cozy blanket, and a bully stick. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness make the biggest difference. It worked. Millie curled up on her new bed, happily chewing her bully stick. When I came back a little while later, she was sitting on her bed with her ears perked up, quietly taking in the world around her. It was like she was beginning to believe she was safe. Moments like this remind me that even when a shelter dog seems completely shut down, they are not broken. They’re frightened. And sometimes all it takes is a little patience, a little comfort, and someone willing to show them kindness. Millie has so much love to give. I can’t wait to watch her confidence grow, her personality shine, and, most importantly, watch her walk out of the shelter with the family she’s been waiting for. Please help us share Millie.
