Meet Milo

OTHER PETS: Milo is pushy and a bit rude when meeting other dogs; sniffing for extended periods and putting his head over/above the other unfamiliar dog. He is not aggressive but should only live with a patient, well-socialized dog that he meets prior to adoption. [Case by Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Experience with positive reinforcement, or willingness to learn will be an ideal fit. Milo is an older dog with a lot of energy and curiosity who is going to need the support of an owner to help him learn new skills as he decompresses in his next home. [Experienced]KIDS: Milo enjoys attention from people, is comfortable with most handling, and has not engaged in resource-guarding while at TJO. However, Milo is mouthy and sometimes jumpy while excited, which isn't a good fit for small children. The best way to help him learn that paws and teeth don't belong on humans is to briefly pause the interaction and wait until paws and teeth are not on humans. Then the fun can start again. We want Milo to be set up for success, minors and dogs should always be actively supervised to keep everyone safe and comfortable. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Milo is an active dog who will need a combiation of regular exercise combined with mental enrichment such as food puzzles, sniffing new places, games, and learning fun tricks. Keeping both the mind and body active will help meet all of his needs while preventing boredom. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Milo build confidence and bond with his new guardian while having fun, building confidence, and learning new skills and fun tricks. As confidence and trust grow, Milo will will be able to enjoy the world as he matures. [Ongoing]
