Meet Nemo

FOUR MONTHS! That's how long young, little Nemo was running around the community of Yolo…being fed by local good Samaritans but not getting caught…until he finally was. At the Shelter, he was shut down and very scared. That's when fostering made all the difference…He started out in a quiet room with a soft bed, good food, cozy blankets, and the peace he needed to feel secure. After almost three weeks in foster, we know the following (see photos below):- Fine around other dogs and cats. Has shared a bed with another dog- Walks fine on a leash, especially when other dogs are around; now he even follows his foster mom around when not on leash!- Eats well and likes treats- Sleeps quietly in crate or loose in the house - Hops into the car and rides quietly- A lot of tail wagging and play bowing- Likes being petted if you are at his level- Ok getting halter put on and leashed up; also ok getting soft muzzle put on but doesn't need it- Ok getting picked up and bathed (with tail tucked but not reactive)- Will bark from outside enclosure if all dogs and human leave, but stays quiet if he can see anyone nearbyNemo has the potential to be a very affectionate, loyal dog to the person who has time and patience to let him feel safe and loved. Would be best with at least one dog pal. So if you want to take on a worthwhile project with tons of rewards, like the love and devotion of a once scared little pup, make an appointment at yoloshelter.org/dogs, or email adopt@yoloshelter.org.
