Nugget is an incredibly sweet, gentle boy with a goofy personality, a big smile, and absolutely no idea how large he is. He is affectionate, playful, easygoing, and always seems happy just to be wherever his people are. He has a really nice, moderate energy level and is equally happy joining you for an outing or relaxing at home. Nugget walks beautifully on leash and has been an easy companion everywhere he has gone. He enjoys walks, trips to the park, jogging around the lake, visiting family and friends, and tagging along for everyday activities. He adjusts well to new places and is the kind of dog who can comfortably be part of whatever the day brings. At home, Nugget is very well behaved. He knows "sit" and "paw", loves stuffed animal toys, playing ball, and is always ready for a good snuggle. He is also learning how wonderful it is to slow down and enjoy the comforts of home, including soft beds, couches, and simply stretching out near his people. Nugget is fantastic with children, does well with cats, and absolutely loves other dogs. He would be thrilled to have a canine companion, but he would also be perfectly content as the only dog in the home. He loves car rides, especially when he can stick his head out the window and enjoy the fresh air, and he has a naturally social, adaptable personality that makes him easy to include in family life. Nugget’s story did not start out the way it should have. He found himself scared and alone at NYC ACC after being surrendered by his previous family through no fault of his own. He was still a young dog with his whole life ahead of him, and rescue gave him the chance to start over. Since then, Nugget has shown everyone just how special he is. He is loving, silly, well-mannered, and endlessly happy to be part of the action or curled up beside the people he loves.
