Meet Oakley
Meet Oakley Our sweet girl is still waiting for her forever home. While we don’t know her exact age, we believe she is at least 6 years old, though don’t let that fool you! Oakley is a fantastic hiking partner who loves trekking through the mountains, playing fetch, going for walks, and spending time in the yard. When adventure time is over, she transforms into a calm, sweet, easy-to-handle companion. Oakley is quite simply the definition of a gentle, loving soul, easily one of the most affectionate dogs we have ever met. She adores adults and children alike and is happiest when she gets to spend time with her humans, sitting in your lap while leaning in for all the pets you can give. Before coming into our care in 2023, Oakley was adopted and returned to the shelter twice. Neither return was her fault. Both homes had small animals, despite the shelter’s requirement that she go to a home without them. She loves to chase cats and is not a fan of other small furry animals. When Oakley was found as a stray in 2023, she had her two puppies with her, so we initially hoped she might be able to live with other dogs. However, so far, we haven’t found another dog she truly wants to be friends with. So we believe she would prefer to be your one and only. Thankfully, Oakley has an amazing foster dad who has taken wonderful care of her for the last couple of years. He has worked hard with her on obedience, taught her lots of fun tricks, and helped her master walking well on a leash with a training collar. True to her breed, Oakley is also a natural watchdog; just two days after arriving at his house, she alerted him to unfamiliar men hanging out in the alley. After all this time, we just can’t understand why this amazing girl is still waiting. Oakley has so much love to give and truly deserves a family of her own to cherish for the rest of her life. Adoption Process: If you are interested in adopting one of our fun-loving, "not-so-rotten" Rotties, you will be asked to fill out our adoption application which allows us to get to know you better. This ensures the dog you are interested in is a good fit for your family and lifestyle. You can access our Adoption Application by visiting our website at www.rottenrottie.com (http://www.rottenrottie.com/), clicking on Adopt a Rottweiler, Adoption Application, and submitting the form online. After reviewing your answers, if we feel the dog you are interested in is not a match for your family, we may recommend a different Rottweiler companion. Once we determine which dog is best for you, we will schedule a meeting at their current home, where they feel most comfortable and act naturally. We require a home check to ensure each dog is going to a safe environment. To finalize the process, an adoption contract must be signed. We also require a rehoming fee, which is typically $500 for most adults and $350 for seniors (6 years and older) or Rottweiler mixes of any age (excluding puppies). Fees for puppies fluctuate depending on the investment required for the litter and whether they are purebred or a mix. These funds are necessary for our organization to continue rehoming Rottweilers in need. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and have tested negative for heartworms. Each dog comes with a collar and a leash. We also address any injuries or illnesses they had upon arrival or developed in foster care; any such conditions will be fully disclosed to the adopter prior to the adoption. Please Note: In almost all cases, we do not adopt to out-of-state applicants. On rare occasions, if we feel it is a PERFECT match for both you and the dog, we may make an exception for our neighbors in Las Vegas. If you live in Las Vegas and would like to be considered, please fill out our adoption application.
