Meet Oliver Marshmallow

Meet Oliver Marshmallow – the 8 week old white and tan terrier. Oliver Marshmallow came to the Shelter as a stray. A good Samaritan found the dog as a stray and could not care for him long term. She brought him to the Shelter so that he was safe and could find a gret home. Typical to puppies his age, Oliver can be mouthy when he is excited. His sharp puppy teeth have a potential of breaking skin on people. Adopters should be prepared to have the resources to work with Oliver on life skills and manners such as potty training, redirection of mouthy behavior and age appropriate socialization. Positive reinforcement based training is recommended to help Oliver bond with his new family and work his puppy brain. Oliver is currently in a foster home with a family including a large breed dog and dog-savvy cats. A home with other animals may be a fit with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Oliver Marshmallow is available for pre-adoption. Come meet, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
