Meet Ollie

Due to a change in circumstances, a loving family decided to find a wonderful new home for their beloved Ollie, a nearly 3-year-old Border Collie mix. He is currently in foster with the grandfather locally, so please call first to make arrangements to meet him. Ollie is a healthy, mid-sized dog who is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, house trained, and crate trained at night. He is an incredibly affectionate companion who was wonderful with their three children and loves being around people. He also does very well with other dogs when off leash, including at dog parks and while living with other dogs. Ollie did live with two cats but there was limited interaction with them. He barked at them occasionally but never tried to go after them. Ollie does have some challenges with leash reactivity and barrier frustration. He has worked with a professional trainer, and we've seen progress, but our dense SF Bay Area neighborhood—with frequent close encounters and limited space—continues to be a difficult environment for him. We truly believe he would thrive in a home with more room to roam and fewer daily stressors. Like many Border Collies, Ollie enjoys being active and is very smart. He knows his basic commands, including sit, and has good recall. At the same time, after he's had a chance to get his energy out, he's just as happy curling up at your feet or cuddling on the couch. Ollie 's ideal home would have a yard, an active owner or family, and, ideally, someone with experience with herding breeds or an understanding of their exercise and enrichment needs. It was an incredibly difficult decision because they love Ollie dearly, but top priority is finding him a home where he can be happy, successful, and deeply loved.
