Meet Oskar

Oskar was surrendered to us by his family when they lost the lease on their farm. They had bought him from a breeder who said he is Anatolian Shepherd mixed with Central Asian Shepherd. Our website doesn't include Central Asian Shepherd as one of the breeds we can choose, probably because the breed is not very common in the USA. Oskar was raised with Boer goats, and since moving to Windsong Ranch, he has been guarding Nigerian Dwarf goats. Oskar has a bit of an alpha personality with other dogs but is a real sweetheart with people. He can be a bit dog-selective, so if you have other working LGDs, we will need to have a meet & greet to see if he approves. Here, we have tried him with a few different dogs, and he does best with one of our feral LGDs. I think that's because the feral dog has zero interest in getting attention from the humans here, so that means Oskar can get all the love when we're in his pasture, and he just soaks that up. Oskar has never been exposed to chickens or other livestock. Just goats. He has had an introduction to our longhorn bull, and showed proper respect, which is understandable when you see the size of the bull and his horns!
