Name: Phoenix Best Guess for Breed: Jack Russell terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of July 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 12 lbs Gets Along With: Phoenix does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! She is currently living with a cat. Currently Living at: DC area foster Special adoption considerations: Phoenix was rescued from a hoarding situation in South Carolina. She has not been well socialized with new people and has lived her whole life with other dogs. New nosies, cars, bikes, and other things may create fear and anxiety. She will need a patient adopter who can give her time to come out of her shell and learn that the world is a wonderful and welcoming place. And because she is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes. Phoenix is Looking For: Her forever home, filled with snuggles and opportunities to see the world! One where she is a cherished part of a family. She's very sweet, shy, and SO ready to be a Real Dog. Extra patient and loving humans who introduce her to new places and people at her pace and a welcoming resident dog who will show her how to dog are high on her wish list! She cannot get enough of her people and welcomes pets and belly rubs all day long. She gets along fine with our cat and likes other dogs, although much bigger dogs make her nervous. Phoenix is learning how to use stairs and to walk on a leash. Her house training is going very well. Spunky, curious, and brave, Phoenix will put a smile on your face every day. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
