Meet Pippi

Meet Pippi, who is basically a tiny package of happy, playful, cuddly terrier energy! Pippi loves just about everything—toys, bones, treats, food, people, playing, cuddling… if it’s fun, Pippi is all in! She is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being part of the action and would happily spend her days playing with her people, exploring, showing off her silly personality, and then curling up for some well-deserved snuggles. Pippi especially loves her people and is always happy to be included in whatever they're doing! This little girl has plenty of energy, so Pippi is looking for an active family who will give her lots of attention, playtime, and opportunities to burn off that energy. While Pippi currently lives successfully with other dogs, she can be selective about the dogs she is comfortable sharing her home with. Because of this, she would likely be happiest as the only dog in her new home, where she can soak up all the attention and be the center of her family's world. Her family should be home frequently and able to give her plenty of interaction, exercise, and playtime. And when we say Pippi is quick, we mean QUICK! She loves to run, so a securely fenced yard would be a huge bonus. If her new family doesn't have a fenced yard, she'll need plenty of regular exercise, such as multiple walks each day and other fun activities that keep her body and brain busy. Because of her young-dog energy, keeping her appropriately exercised and mentally stimulated will help her be a happy, well-behaved pup. Pippi isn't especially vocal on her own, but in true terrier fashion, she has no problem joining the neighborhood choir when the other dogs start barking. She is also very well crate trained. Her crate has become her comfortable place to relax and decompress, and she settles quietly, sleeps well, and keeps it clean. The only time you may hear a little protest is when she knows something exciting is happening and she's convinced she's missing out on the fun! She is still working on her leash-walking skills, but is progressing very well. Continued training and positive socialization will be important for Pippi as she grows into the very best dog she can be. She does great meeting new people, but introductions to unfamiliar dogs should be taken slowly and thoughtfully, allowing Pippi the time and space she needs to build confidence and become comfortable. She does best when these interactions happen at her pace and are not rushed. Luckily, Pippi is very food motivated, making training both fun and productive! More than anything, Pippi needs a family who wants to engage with her, play with her, teach her, and include her in the fun. She is a bright, happy little dog who simply loves being a dog. Give her plenty of activity, attention, affection, patience, and opportunities to learn and build her confidence, and this sweet girl is sure to keep her family laughing and loving her every step of the way. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
