Meet Princess

Meet Princess — a little royal, a lot of fun! Princess may have arrived at the shelter feeling unsure of her new surroundings, but give this girl a little time and her personality starts to shine. During one Doggy Day Out, she went from gently companionable to full-on happy girl with a wagging tail, zoomies and a serious interest in making friends—all in a couple of hours. At about 5 years old and 54 pounds, Princess is a great size for adventures. She leashes up easily, rides beautifully in the car, and enjoys getting out and about. At Tiguex Park she happily sniffed and explored, and in Old Town she was happy to accept pets from friendly strangers. At Slow Burn coffee shop, she seemed to decide that being a social butterfly was her calling. She went from person to person soliciting pets and was quite the little ambassador. She was also calm and comfortable around other dogs she encountered. She briefly greeted one appropriately with a sniff, and at the coffee shop she mostly gave the dogs resting under their people’s feet a quick glance before carrying on. A meet-and-greet with any resident dog would, of course, be the best way to see how everyone gets along. And then there was Princess at home. Once inside a house, she seemed to realize that life had some pretty excellent possibilities. Her tail started wagging, she did delighted zoomies, explored every corner, chased balls and toys, greeted her new people, and then settled down with a chew beside the computer chair. She stayed close without being clingy, relaxed on the kitchen floor, was housebroken during her outing, and walked very nicely around the neighborhood. So, what is Princess looking for? Someone who will give her a little time to get her bearings, then invite her along for the good stuff: walks, car rides, neighborhood exploring, coffee-shop people watching—or simply hanging out at home with a ball, a toy and a comfortable place to nap. She doesn't need to be the center of attention every second. She just seems to enjoy being part of the action. If you're looking for a dog who can go from `I'm not entirely sure about this` to `OH! THIS IS FUN!` pretty quickly, Princess would very much like to meet you.
