He came to us as a stray wandering the roads of Tennessee, but it’s clear that he loves living in a home. He is fully housebroken and leash trained, and knows his basic commands (sit, stay, and even "gentle" when taking treats). Whether your home is busy and active or calm and quiet, Ralphie is flexible and easygoing — truly the kind of dog who fits right in wherever love is offered. Ralphie is a self-described people dog through and through. He loves being near his humans at all times, greets everyone with an enthusiastic tail wag, and is famous for his sweet Pyr Paw and his trademark husky-like vocalizations that are sure to make you smile. He's a big, lovable teddy bear who may let out a bark when someone first arrives, but he warms up quickly and will have new friends wrapped around his paw in no time. He proved just how social he is when he charmed an entire crowd of kids at a football game! He's been wonderfully gentle with children of all ages — from toddlers to teenagers — making him a fantastic family companion. When he's not busy being adored by his people, Ralphie loves zooming around the yard, hopping in the car for a ride, and soaking up the great outdoors (fair warning: once he's outside having fun, he may need a little convincing to come back in!). He does best as the only dog in the home, or potentially with a female dog, and will thrive in a yard with at least a 4-foot fence.
