Meet Red Daisy

Meet Red Daisy, a 67-pound bundle of reddish curls, affection, and the kind of love that comes with absolutely no concept of personal space. If you are standing nearby, she would really prefer to be hugging you. If you are sitting down, she may have a few ideas about that, too. And if you happen to be her person? Well, good luck going anywhere without an enthusiastic escort. Red Daisy is a beautiful 5 year-old Standard Poodle who has spent most of her life living outdoors in a pen, only getting a different kind of attention when she was raising puppies. Her purpose was to produce babies, and now it is finally her turn to be somebody's baby. And let us tell you, this girl has a whole lot of love stored up and ready to give. She is incredibly affectionate and genuinely seems happiest when she is close to people. Daisy has a way of leaning into you and practically wrapping her arms around you for a hug. There is something awfully sweet about a dog who has spent so much of her life outside discovering that being close to humans can feel this wonderful. She is learning about leash walking and making progress, and she is adjusting to the idea that life can include things beyond a pen and a breeding schedule. Daisy does pretty well being left alone inside the house, but there is one very important thing her future family needs to know. This girl is DETERMINED when she wants to be with someone! She once cleared a six-foot chain-link fence because she was alone on one side and someone she wanted to reach was on the other. Apparently, a six-foot fence is merely a suggestion when Daisy has somewhere important to be.he will need a secure plan for outdoor time. A tall wooden privacy fence may be a good option, but she should still be supervised outside until her safety is well established. Leash walks are another option, and supervised backyard time with her people is likely to make her very happy. Daisy isn't looking for an escape route when you're out there with her. She is looking for YOU!Cats are another story. She will give chase because it is fun. So perhaps no cats. What Daisy needs is a family who wants an affectionate companion, a big curly shadow, and a dog who believes being together is pretty much the best thing in the world. She deserves a life where she gets to be a dog first, a companion always, and never again just a means to produce puppies. Think about it: five years old, 67 pounds of gorgeous Poodle, and still so much of the good life ahead of her. She has missed out on the ordinary things that make a dog feel like family. Now she is ready for soft places to land, walks with her favorite person, attention that doesn't have to be earned, and a home where she is loved simply because she is Daisy. If you have room in your heart for a big, beautiful girl who gives hugs like she means them, Daisy would love to meet you. Just be prepared: once she decides you're her person, personal space may become a thing of the past. Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com
