Meet Rockie

Meet Rockie, an adorable one-year-old, 8-pound black-and-tan dachshund, or maybe min pin mix. . This little guy is full of personality, puppy fun, and lots of love! Rockie came into rescue with a demodox mange but within two weeks of love, good food and vet care he was a new dog. With his regular flea and tick prevention and good baths, his skin is doing well. The best part? Rockie doesn’t mind his baths at all! He is a very good boy and happily cooperates with his bath routine. Rockie is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He is house-trained and crate-trained and is completely comfortable in his crate when his foster family leaves and at night while he sleeps. Rockie loves his daily walks and gets at least a mile every morning and evening. He is still working on his leash manners because he likes to pull when he gets excited. He is also learning his commands, including sit, down, and wait. This little boy is very easy-going and playful. He is friendly with other dogs and people he doesn’t know. We haven’t had an opportunity to see how he does with cats yet. Rockie LOVES going for car rides and adventures, and he’d be happy to go along with you to the store or wherever you’re headed. He also loves being held, cuddled, and right beside his person. Of course, Rockie is still a puppy at heart! He loves to chew on his Nylabone and bully sticks, although sometimes he thinks fingers, ears, and especially shoes are pretty good chew toys, too! He’s learning what belongs in his mouth and what doesn’t. He eats Purina Pro Plan Chicken dry kibble twice a day, morning and evening. Rockie will let you know when someone comes to the door by barking at the doorbell. He doesn’t mind the vacuum cleaner, trimmer, or blower, although he’d rather not be too close to them. And the lawnmower? Well… Rockie definitely has an opinion about that! Rockie’s Dream Home Rockie’s dream would be a loving family with another small, friendly dog and a secure fenced-in backyard where he can safely run and play. He is affectionate, playful, adventurous, and just the right combination of silly puppy and loving little companion. He wants a family who will continue helping him learn, give him plenty of love and attention, and make him a part of their everyday life.
