Meet Roscoe

Roscoe is still searching for his forever home! This handsome little guy has come such a long way since entering rescue. Once shy and unsure, Roscoe has blossomed into a quirky, loyal lap dog who loves nothing more than being close to his person. He’s feisty, funny, and full of personality — the kind of pup who’ll make you laugh every single day. Roscoe would do best in an adult‑only, quiet home with one or maybe two people — someone who appreciates small dogs with big hearts and is open to unconditional love. He’s not suited for a busy household or young kids, but if children visit, that’s perfectly fine — just pop him in his crate so he feels safe and comfortable. It may take him a couple of days to warm up, but once he does, he’s your boy for life. This handsome little guy is searching for a patient, loving home after his owner made the difficult decision to surrender him. After entering the shelter, it quickly became clear that Roscoe was struggling in that environment. The shelter recognized that he needed a quieter, more supportive setting and reached out to rescue for help. Once Roscoe settled into foster care, his true personality began to shine. Today, he is a feisty, spunky, and thoroughly spoiled lap dog who loves nothing more than being close to his people. He's become his foster mom's little shadow, happily following her around the house to make sure everything is running smoothly. While Roscoe can be shy and cautious when meeting new people, he gains confidence a little more each day. Once you've earned his trust, he's incredibly devoted and affectionate. Whether he's curled up in your lap or snuggled beside you on the couch, Roscoe simply wants to be near his favorite person. He does appreciate having his boundaries respected and is very good at communicating when he's had enough attention. Because of this, Roscoe would do best in an adult‑only home. His ideal adopter is a single person who can shower him with love and attention, though he would also do well with a patient and understanding couple. Most days, you'll find Roscoe cozied up on a soft pillow or perched at a window keeping watch over the neighborhood and protecting his humans from suspicious visitors — especially the mailman! His confidence has grown tremendously thanks to the companionship of his foster home's resident dogs. Roscoe would thrive in a home with another small or medium‑sized dog to help guide him and build his confidence. Once comfortable, he's playful, energetic, and loves tug‑of‑war, zoomies, and toy time. Stuffed toys are his favorite, and he'll happily collect all his treasures to keep them safe from the other dogs. Roscoe is continuing to work on his leash skills and is becoming more comfortable wearing a collar. By following the lead of his canine foster siblings, he's learned that walks can be a lot of fun! Because new environments can still be overwhelming for him, adopters will be required to use a martingale collar (available from Pixie Mamas for $10), and a securely fenced yard is a must. Invisible fencing is not suitable for Roscoe. He is doing very well with house training and has only had a few accidents since entering foster care. A consistent routine helps him succeed. Roscoe is also crate trained and rests comfortably in his pen when left alone. He has even been trusted out of his pen while his foster parents are away and has done wonderfully. At bedtime, Roscoe settles in easily and sleeps through the night without any issues. Roscoe may need a little time to adjust, but with patience, understanding, and love, you'll discover an incredibly loyal companion who will reward you with endless affection.
