Meet Sharky
Meet Sharky, a handsome guy looking for a family who can give him the structure, patience, and care he needs to thrive! Thanks to time spent in a foster home, we've learned that Sharky has some pretty great house manners. He appears to be house-trained and crate-trained, did well when left alone, and wasn't destructive in the home. He loves spending time with his people and, once he's comfortable with you, is a sweet companion who enjoys being part of the family. Sharky can be nervous when meeting new people and is most comfortable when he's given time and space to warm up at his own pace. Children can also make him nervous, so he's looking for a home with teens and adults who can respect his boundaries and allow him to build relationships gradually. One thing Sharky takes very seriously is food! He is extremely food motivated and has shown some resource guarding around food and other valued items when sharing a home with another dog. Although Sharky has demonstrated friendly and social behavior with appropriately matched dogs around his size outside of the home, we believe he'll be happiest as the only pet in his household, where meals and resources can be easily managed and he doesn't have to worry about sharing. Sharky also has ongoing medical needs related to his skin. His future family should be comfortable providing continued medical care and management and working with their veterinarian to keep him healthy and comfortable. Our team will discuss his current medical needs and treatment plan with potential adopters so they understand what his continued care may involve. Sharky may need a little more support than your average pup, but he already has many of the skills that make living with a dog rewarding. He's looking for someone who appreciates a dog who needs a little patience, predictable routines, and a family committed to caring for him for the long haul. If you've got a pet-free home, plenty of snacks, and room for a special guy who just needs the right match, come meet Sharky!
